Casa Lucia Historical Walking Retreat 2 Night Weekend - 3rd-5th May 2024

EUR390 per person (based on 2ppl sharing)

Friday 3rd May:

12:30 Upon arrival at the villa you will be greeted by the hosts and shown to your rooms, refreshments will be provided, then a welcome meeting by your tour guide and an short Introduction to the weekend’s events.

1:30 A light lunch and time to unpack and settle in.

3:00 Travel to Baza for an informative 4km walk around the town. Learning about the prehistory of the area, the impact the civilisations of the Iberians, Romans, Muslims & Catholics have had in shaping the town. Discovering the history behind local festivals, learning about the civil war and visiting some of the architectural gems of the town, including the 13th Century Arab baths. The tours ends with informal drinks in a bar, whilst learning all about the siege of Baza.

6:30 Dinner, drinks and fun (including testing your knowledge on the history of Baza!).

Saturday 4th May:

8:30 Breakfast

9:30 Travel to Jabalcon for a circular 13.5km walk around the mountain that dominates the Altiplano. The walk (all of which is above 1000m) provides breath taking views of the surrounding villages, the Negratin reservoir and the rural landscape. The villages, lake, flora and fauna, historical remains and rural traditions of the area will be shared as embark on this truly scenic walk. There is also an opportunity to see vultures, eagles, deer and mountain goats during the walk.

Water & light snacks are provided.

2:30 Lunch and relax.

5:00 A visit to the ancient Iberian City of Basti, including visiting the museum and a walk around the city and necropolis.

This truly complements and brings to life some of the history covered on the previous day’s tour of Baza.

7:00 Dinner and drinks.

Sunday 5th May:

8:30 Breakfast

9:30 A visit to the village of Baul to marvel at the Gustav Eiffel designed Iron rail bridge that spans an impressive gorge, as well as seeing the old train station and walking a small section of the old rail line. Then onto Gorafe to see some of the most impressive dolmens in the area.

Water provided.

Both of these excursions bring to life some of the history covered on Friday’s walking tour of Baza.

12:30 Return to the villa to pack and depart.
